Dice releases Battlefield V roadmap

Battlefield V roadmap with Chapter 3, 4 and 5

On Friday (March 22nd), Dice posted a blog post on Battlefield.com that includes a Battlefield V 2019 roadmap, telling their players some details about what's coming up for the game.

Before getting to the roadmap, I have to say this, while reading the blog post, something that annoyed me after reading it was the statement, "Overall, it's been a good kick off to our new Live Service." Now check with any BFV player that plays the game almost daily (such as myself) and ask them if they agree with that statement. I would guess that 99% of players you ask would respond with no, the live service has been a huge disappointment as there is a lack of content along with various annoying bugs or missing features in the game that past games had and the anti-cheat is not doing its job (on PC).

So now let's take a look at the roadmap image that was posted, click the small image at the upper right of this text to see a larger version. First we have Chapter 3: Trial by Fire (March 28 - June) where we have Firestorm (Battlefield's version of Battle Royal) launching on March 25th. Some BF players are looking forward to this while others are not. I will be trying it with my BF friends. Firestorm duo play though is only coming for a limited time in April. You can see the Chapter 3 weekly challenges on this blog post.

Next is April with new missions for Combined Arms (two Fjell 652 map missions, a "Hardcore" mode and matchmaking), which nobody asked for. I'll leave it at that.

Then for May, a new map named "Mercury" is coming. Finally a new map. The description for the Mercury map reads: "you'll take on a massive aerial invasion along the Cretan coast and experience the first and largest German paratrooper invasion ever, based on the real-life events of Operation Mercury."

Then starting in June will be Chapter 4: Defying the Odds. In chapter 4, we'll get new maps and modes, a map named "Marita", and a new urban combat map. One of the new game modes is named "Grind" and the description reads: "With smaller teams, intense combat zones, and fewer objectives, Grind is a focused, fast-paced take on Conquest requiring aggressive tactics and awareness." Another new game mode is named "Outpost" and the description reads: "you’ll secure and build objectives to ensure your team assembles enough soldiers to endure through the fight." We will get more information about Chapter 4 "in the run-up to EA PLAY in June."

Then Chapter 5 will be in Fall 2019, which includes a new theater of war (most likely the US and Japan factions).

Of course at the bottom of the roadmap image is a disclaimer saying that everything on the roadmap can change.

Make sure to check out Jackfrags video about this roadmap with his thoughts, as he always posts good BF videos.
