My feedback for Battlefield 2042 Beta

Battlefield 2042

The Battlefield franchise has been my favorite FPS game series for years now so I checked out the Battlefield 2042 Beta the past few days. I've gathered my thoughts about the beta, on PC, and listed my feedback below in this blog post. I also created a video and posted it on my YouTube channel. For those interested, my PC has a GTX 1060 and I played on medium settings with only mesh quality set to high.

I did have fun and enjoyed playing the beta, but let's be honest, the beta was rough. I know we were told the beta was a build from a few months ago, but it needs a lot of work.

My Feedback

This first list is full of issues that I am hoping that DICE has already fixed in their current internal version of the game. There are a few items I did not mention such as hit registration, no commo rose, mouse input issues, performance issues, and optimization issues as just about every other BF YouTuber/Game Changer/Tester has mentioned in their videos and feedback.

  • Spotting didn't seem to work at times
  • I could not view the larger version of the map (pressing the M key)
  • There was no melee weapon choices in the loadout section
  • The UI and menu system needs work; maybe DICE is going for a minimal look and feel but a lot was left out such as stats, a proper looking scoreboard, and loadouts (out of round)

Changes I would like to see:

  • The revive needs to be faster
  • The revive and kit switch keys/buttons need to be different as you accidentally switch kits when trying to revive a teammate
  • Bullet velocity should be faster for all weapons
  • The in-game UI, the points you earn should be centered on the screen under the kill icon, and not on the right side of the screen, similar to what past BF games had
  • Bigger player models, as YouTuber Crash Games pointed out that the models in the beta appear to be smaller than past BF games, what's going on here DICE?
  • I do think the class system works for Battlefield games and not this specialist system, but DICE isn't going to change that now for this game, we can only hope that for future games they go back to the class system
  • A bug I ran into was when I joined a match that was already in progress, I could not choose a specialist, loadout, weapons or gadget; I had to just deploy and use whatever it gave me, I can't remember if it defaulted to the Assault specialist or your last used specialist/loadout

A friend brought up how some features from past BF games were missing from the beta:

  • You're not able to throw back grenades
  • There were no fortifications
  • There were no squad call-ins (maybe this got replaced by individual call-ins?)
  • The sliding mechanic needs a cooldown so players don't abuse it
  • No towable items

My Feedback on Battlefield 2042 Beta (PC)

I am just an average player that focuses on PTFO'ing and teamplay. If you're looking for awesome killstreaks, insane shots and clips that make you say wow, I highly recommend checking out:
