A recent Bloomberg article, Rockstar Games Cleaned Up Its Frat-Boy Culture - and Grand Theft Auto, Too by Jason Schreier, included a few details of the upcoming Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA 6) game that gamers have been waiting years for. It seems that some or maybe all of the rumors that came out in June are true.
So in the Bloomberg article, it states that GTA 6 will include a playable female protagonist (a woman who is Latina); there will be a pair of leading characters influenced by "Bonnie and Clyde"; the setting will be a fictional Miami (Vice City?) and its surrounding areas; Rockstar will be adding new missions and cities over time; and the game will come out sometime between April 2023-March 2024. My thoughts
I see a lot of people crying online about some of the things mentioned in the article, specifically about the developers not wanting to "punch down" by making jokes about marginalized groups as they have in past games. So you're mad that they don't want to keep making jokes about marginalized groups? Do you understand what you're saying/mad about? So you want to keep putting down and making fun of marginalized groups. Wow.
There's also people upset about having one of the main lead characters being a female. If you're upset about playing a female character in a video game, I suggest you seek some professional help. You have much bigger problems.
I'm not sure how I feel about Rockstar continually updating the game over time, by adding missions and cities. Of course that sounds great but we saw what happened with GTA V and GTA Online as Rockstar ditched additions to the single-player and just focused on the "Online" mode because of the money they were making from it. I would love for the game to have multiple maps and updates over years keeping the game alive. I guess we'll have to wait and see what they decide to do.
