On Tuesday the Battlefield Twitch channel had a Battlefield Briefing where EA Community Manager Adam Freeman hosted a chat with DICE General Manager, Oskar Gabrielson, and Battlefield 2042 Design Director, Daniel Berlin to go over what information has been released so far. You can watch the briefing video further down below. If you haven't heard anything about BF 2042 yet, you can also read up on a previous blog post I made with information we found out when the reveal trailer was released.
Besides the briefing video, there was also a new blog post added to the Battlefield 2042 website on Tuesday, Battlefield Briefing: Welcome to 2042, where they tried to clear up a few things and also gave us some new information about the upcoming game.
- AI Soldiers in multiplayer Conquest and Breakthrough rounds are used for server-filling capabilities, making sure that rounds remain full, no matter your location.
- Specialists have a Specialty and Trait that ties into their class of either Assault, Engineer, Recon, or Support. Class type will no longer restrict what weapons, equipment or throwable you can equip.
- Specialties and Traits are unique to their respective Specialist.
- Specialists can equip any primary weapon, any secondary weapon, and a throwable (frag grenade or incendiary grenade).
- Specialists can equip any item in their equipment slot from the equipment pool, which includes the Medical Crate and Supply Crate.
- You will be able to create custom loadouts and select them for any Specialist.
- Sounds like there will be 8 different categories of weapons: assault rifles, SMGs, LMGs, DMRs, shotguns, sniper rifles, pistols and explosive ordnance.
- For gadgets, classic Battlefield items will be accessible to every Specialist including the C5 Explosive, Anti-Tank Mine and Frag Grenade, and a new item, Ranger, an agile and mechanized companion that will follow you into combat.
- Vehicles will include: jets, hovercrafts, tanks, troop carriers, armored cars and helicopters.
- Vehicle call-in system: you no longer get vehicles from the deply screen but rather you can call-in vehicles. And we'll be able to find vehicles on the battlefield.
