Battlefield 2042

The Battlefield 2042 reveal trailer was released on Wednesday (watch the trailer here) and wow I am excited about this new upcoming game. We also learned that the game will be released on October 22, 2021. It will be available for PC, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and PlayStation 4. I posted a video on YouTube showing my favorite moments of the trailer, make sure to check it out and let me know your favorite moments.

The gameplay reveal will be on June 13th! Make sure not to miss that. There will be an open beta before launch.

I've compiled information from three sources and listed it all below, the sources are the official Battlefield website, a Jackfrags video and a Two Angry Gamers video.

Information from the Battlefield website - Source

The game will be released on October 22, 2021 but you can get early access on October 15 if you buy the Gold Edition or the Ultimate Edition. More details about the game:

  • There will be 128 player battles, except old gen consoles (Xbox One and PlayStation 4) will only have 64 player battles.
  • Destruction, dynamic events and storms.
  • Game modes:
    1. All-Out Warfare, which includes Conquest and Breakthrough. The maps are so large that Conquest mode has been divided into "clusters" or sections consisting of several flags. Breakthrough will be the same with attackers vs defenders.
    2. New Hazard Zone, which is a new squad-based mode that we will get more info at a later date.
    3. New unnamed mode, which is said to be a new way to play with unexpected battles and this mode will be shown at EA Play Live on July 22. This new mode is said to have been created as a "love letter to our core fans" - a new way to play Battlefield and built by Dice LA.
  • Background of the game's storyline can be found here.
  • Maps
    1. Orbital, located in Kourou, French Guiana (this map includes the rocket launch)
    2. Hourglass, located in Doha, Qatar (this map is the one with the city and desert around it and has dust/sand storms)

    5. Discarded, located in Alang, India (this map has stranded ships)
    6. Breakaway, located in Queen Maud Land, Antarctica (this is the icy map)
    7. Renewal, located in Eastern Desert, Egypt (this map has a giant wall separating the map, one side is green and full of life while other is desert looking)

Information from Jackfrags video (watch below)

Jack says that the game has been in development for 3 years and uses the latest Frostbite tech which includes a new physics system. The game will be multiplayer only; there will be an option to play solo vs AI bots or squad up against AI bots, which will be good for practice and progression is enabled in this mode. The "Plus System" allows soldiers to edit their weapon's scope/barrel/ammo type/underbarrel in-game on-the-fly. No more going to a menu to do that. There are vehicle drops where any player can call in a vehicle. Vehicles have roles; more people in a vehicle means it will be more proficient. The maps are huge. Takedowns (melee/knife animations) will be in third-person. Squads will consist of 4 players.

Information from Two Angry Gamers video (watch below)

Tommy from Two Angry Gamers said that there is no BR (Battle Royale mode) at release and there is no plans for one; there are destructible environments/terrain, called "ground deformation" - will players be able to dig trenches? The Manifest map is infantry focused; the Hourglass map is 3x BFV's Hamada's size (WTF!); the Breakaway map is the biggest map in BF history; any specialist can use any gun, any grenade and can choose a secondary gadget from a common pool.
