BF 2042's Battlefield Portal revealed at EA Play Live

Today at EA Play Live we finally got to see what one of the three modes in Battlefield 2042 will be, and it is named "Battlefield Portal" which is basically gives players a way to create their own custom game mode (Dice is calling them "Community Experiences") with their own settings, where you'll be able to choose a faction and a map from Battlefield 1942, BF Bad Company 2, Battlefield 3 or Battlefield 2042. Please note though right now there are only going to be 6 maps from the older games and all of the maps in BF 2042 (see below for the map list). Check out the official Battlefield Portal trailer below.

Below are frequently asked questions I've seen online and have been answered, along with the sources listed at the bottom.

Battlefield Portal FAQs

  • What is this "Community Experiences" (game mode) creator?
"The creation suite includes Settings, custom modes, and a Logic Editor so you can build your own signature spin on Battlefield's sandbox; you'll be able to change team ratios, tweak victory conditions, restrict weapons, and even put different factions from different eras in Battlefield's history against one another." (see source #1 below)
  • Will you earn progression when playing the Battlefield Portal Community Experiences?
Yes, "progression is shared between Battlefield 2042 and Battlefield Portal." You will progress in your ranks and your Battle Pass. (see source #2 below)
  • Besides the BF 2042 maps, what maps from past games will be available in Battlefield Portal?
At launch there will be 6 maps from past games: Battle Of The Bulge (Battlefield 1942), El Alamein (Battlefield 1942), Arica Harbor (Battlefield: Bad Company 2), Valparaiso (Battlefield: Bad Company 2), Caspian Border (Battlefield 3), and Noshahr Canals (Battlefield 3). (see source #1 below)
  • Will the maps from past Battlefield games be the same as they were or different?
"The classic Battlefield maps have been 'rebuilt for the latest version of Frostbite' and are not 1:1 recreations. Destruction has been added to the buildings in the Battlefield 1942 maps." (see source #4 below)
  • Will your Community Experience be available online always?
No, once the server is empty, it will end. "Community Experiences are created when you make a match, and will remain online while the Experience has players active." (see source #1 below)
  • Will there be admin tools like banning players/cheaters?
"At launch you can also expect basic Admin Tools usable by creators of Experiences, such as the ability to ban usernames which continue across Experiences you create." (see source #1 below)
  • What are some examples of the options we can enable/disable in a Community Experience?
You can enable/disable: aim down sight (ADS), prone, health regeneration, particular specialists/weapons/vehicles/equipment, and more. You can opt out of using AI soldiers in your Community Experience as well. (see source #1 below)
