Game reviews for The Quarry

The Quarry is an interactive drama horror video game developed by Supermassive Games and published by 2K Games, and was released on June 10th. The game is the spiritual successor to the popular Until Dawn game. The Quarry was released on PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and Series S, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.

I have previously blogged about The Quarry, which you can see here with a preview and some gameplay videos, and here with the announcement trailer video. I have not bought or played the game myself. I'm currently waiting for my favorite YouTubers/streamers to play the game and then I will watch it. If you have played the game, let me know what you think of the game. Below are a few video reviews from YouTube you may want to check out.

Disclaimer: Just a reminder that everyone has their own opinions, not everyone likes what you like, so it's always good to get a wide range of opinions and watch gameplay before making a decision about playing/purchasing any game. The Quarry Review by GameSpot

GameSpot rated this game with a 9 out of 10. Video description: The Quarry picks up where Until Dawn left off, introducing another group of personable teens you'll attempt to keep alive. Or not.

The Quarry Review by IGN (SPOILERS / SHOWS MONSTER)

IGN rated this game with a 7 out of 10. Video description: The Quarry is worth playing at least once, but when compared to Until Dawn, it's one step forward and one step back. It features a solid script performed by a great cast, with a slow-burn story that you can guide to a few different satisfying (or anticlimactic) conclusions. It's not very interactive, though, and that makes replaying it as intended a chore. It's still a fun experience, particularly on your first time through it, but Supermassive Games' formula could use some quality-of-life improvements.

The Quarry - Before You Buy by Gameranx

The Quarry Review - The Final Verdict by GamingBolt

GamingBolt rated this game with a 8 out of 10. Video description: Ultimately, The Quarry isn't trying to do anything new. On the contrary, it feels like a return to its roots for the studio. Leaving behind the experimental storytelling that Supermassive focused on during its Dark Pictures Anthology, The Quarry focuses on a smaller story, but one that ends up feeling more engaging and human, thanks in no small part to phenomenal acting and gorgeous visuals. While its gameplay isn't going to set the world on fire, it does its job in adding the right amount of tension and giving just the right level of interactivity for even non-gamers to have a good time. The Quarry is an all-round good time for anyone that loves a good horror romp, especially for fans of classic horror.

The Quarry Isn't Scary... It's Beautiful | Xplay

Xplay rated this game with a 5 out of 5. Video description: Stranger Things isn't the only impressive teen horror/drama to come out recently. Supermassive Games follows up on their 2015 hit Until Dawn with their brand new entry and spiritual successor The Quarry. It's up to you to decide if the camp counselors of Hackett's Quarry Summer Camp survive the night. But it's up to us if they survive this review.
